85% of residents in Lund feel safe outdoors after dark (Kolada citizen survey, 2025). The figure covers the whole municipality and complements the ranking, which is based on reported crime.
The safety index is based on reported crime per DeSO area (2024–2025 average), measured against how many people actually spend time there: residents, one third of the daytime population and an estimate of visitors based on the number of nearby restaurants and bars. This gives city centres and nightlife areas, where many people spend time but few live, a fairer figure. The index measures reported crime — not how safe people feel, and not the police assessment of vulnerable areas.
Parentesen-Ulrikedal has the highest safety index in Lund (100 out of 100), followed by Delphinen-Kämnärsvägen and Sparta-Ideon. The ranking is based on reported crime relative to residents and daytime population.
